Resources for Monologues and Scenes
Due to copyright restrictions,
many monologues cannot be posted on the internet, alas, there
really aren’t very many GOOD monologue sites. Yes, that
means, you will have to go to the book store or local library
and read some books to find the monologue that is just right.
FYI: Ms. Passey cannot vouch for the content of all these sites...proceed
with caution.
Monologues
The
Monologue Database-- Monologues from a wide variety of stage
plays/musicals. An excellent site!
The
WWW Virtual Library – Theatre and Drama -- Here you
will find pointers to resources in more than 50 countries around
the world, for professionals, amateurs, academics and students
of all ages. The site attempts to be multi-cultural and multi-lingual.
The site is updated daily. A great place to start.

Archive: Monologues--Monologues from both classical and contemporary
plays
Ambermarie’s
Monologues – There are only a few on this page, but
they are worth checking out.
Anne’s
Page of Actor’s Monologues-- “This page was designed
for actors, like myself, in search of monologues for auditions,
classes, etc. I'm trying to include a good variety of monologues,
from traditional to more...unique content. No copyright infringements
are intended--I've quoted and credited the excerpts as accurately
as I can. These should be for academic/personal use only.”
Monologues,
Mixed – This site has a lot of great monologues –
from film and stage. Make sure you are getting a piece from a
play. Also, for some reason, the person who put this site together
decided to give titles to each monologue. This is misrepresentation.
If you ever present one of these monologues, make sure you know
the name of play from which the monologue was extracted.
Shakespeare’s
Monologues – I think the title says it all. P.S. An
excellent site.
Yahoo
- Performing Arts - Monologues -- Yahoo's directory catergory
for monologues. Lots of very good sites (including some already
linked here.)
Monologue
Archive-- Variety of monologues- from the classics to more
contemporary pieces
Movie & TV Script / Monologue Sites
Beware. Most festivals
and college auditions will NOT allow you to use a piece from a
movie. In fact, most theatres you will audition for require that
you use a monologue from a PLAY, not from a movie. With that in
mind, check out these excellent sites with caution.
Drew’s
Script-O-Rama –Drew’s site is considered one of
the better movie script sites on the web. TV scripts, movies scripts,
you name it… plus, he’s adding to the site all the
time.
Colin’s
Movie Monologue Page – For most auditions, you need
to use something from a play, but on that off chance that you
get to use something from a movie, check this page out. They have
tons of great monologues that have already been extracted from
movie scripts.
Twiz
TV-- TV scripts and transcripts from such shows as "Gilmore
Girls", "The O.C.", "Friends" (and many
more). Looks like a great site.
SimplyScripts
- links to hundreds of free, downloadable scripts, movie scripts,
screenplays, and transcripts of current, classic and maybe a few
soon-to-be-released movies, television, anime, unproduced and
radio shows. A screenwriter's resource.
